ABOUT ASHLEY
Ashley Laracey is a Soloist with New York City Ballet and an artist-educator whose career spans performance, teaching, mentorship, and program leadership. She is widely recognized for her musical intelligence, dramatic range, and commitment to cultivating the next generation of dancers.
Over her 24-year career with New York City Ballet, Ashley has performed dozens of leading and principal roles in New York and internationally, appearing in seminal works including The Nutcracker, Concerto Barocco, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Symphony in Three Movements, The Goldberg Variations, The Sleeping Beauty, and more than 65 additional featured and principal roles. Her repertoire encompasses the breadth of the classical and contemporary canon, reflecting both technical rigor and expressive depth.
Alongside her performing career, Ashley has taken on increasing leadership and educational responsibilities. She serves as a rehearsal director for BalletCollective, where she teaches company classes and masterclasses, assists with planning, scheduling and casting and supports choreographers through the creative process. She has also played a meaningful role in the growth and development of New York City Ballet’s Access Program, expanding dance education and performance opportunities for children and young adults with disabilities.
Ashley is an in-demand teacher, known for her clarity, empathy, and ability to adapt instruction across ages and abilities. She teaches privately and leads group workshops, and is the founder and director of an annual Ballet Summer Intensive in College Station, Texas, focused on strong technical foundations, musicality, and joyful engagement with movement.
Her work and career have been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Pointe, Dance Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, CR Fashion Book, CBS Morning News, and PBS, among others. She has appeared in campaigns for Aritzia and Thakoon, and can be seen as a principal dancer in Amazon Prime’s Etoile series and the acclaimed documentary The Nutcracker at Wethersfield.
Ashley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Fordham University. She is a founding board member of BalletCollective and a mother of twins, experiences that deeply inform her approach to mentorship, education, and community building.
